Haunted Bookshelves
| It has taken me two and a half years to finish
this project.... last year I ran out of time. This is the second version of it. Haunted Bookshelves 1.0 used a rotisserie motor to run the cams. The problem with rotisserie motors is that when they have to work too hard they change direction. |
|
| Haunted Bookshelves 2.0 got beefed up supports and a FCG motor to turn the cams. Most of the book titles were taken from the Harry Potter books... One of them IS a Harry Potter book | |
| Haunted Bookshelves 2.0 also had the original wooden cams replaced with 1/8" aluminum cams, drilled and tapped with set screws holding the cams to the shaft. I filed the shaft flat where the set screws met with shaft. | |
| Version 2.0 also had bearings installed to
make shaft rotation easier. A shaft coupler attaches the motor to the
shaft. Rubber bands are used to pull the books back. I tried to find springs, however the were too strong and did not allow the books to slide out. I hallowed out most of the pages of the sliding books to make the books lighter and slide easier. |
